Welcome
Casa del Angel was born in 1998 in Oaxaca, Mexico. At the beginning it was a yoga studio, but we have been growing and now we offer many other activities. Silent meditation, movement meditation classes, tai chi, sacred dance, different types of therapies and massages.
The idea from the beginning was to create a space where people of all ages and beliefs could participate in different activities and discover transformational learning tools to empower their spiritual journey.
The programs and activities that we offer are directed toward helping to connect and rediscover in our bodies and emotions ways to explore ourselves more deeply.
By observing how our minds and thoughts work, we can gain the confidence to initiate a journey into the knowledge of the Self.
Continually we organize events and workshops with teachers and specialists in different themes from Mexico and abroad to help make their programs and knowledge available to the public in Oaxaca
We kindly invite you to visit us and be informed of our activities.
Our staff will help you with any doubt and can provide with all the information you need.
Our center is very well located in downtown Oaxaca, between two parks, the Llano and the Conzatti Park. You can access easily from any point of the city. |

Instructors
Alosja van Leeuwen
After years of working behind the gaming tables all over the world as a croupier, Alosja knew a change had to come. That change came with yoga. For more than 14 years she has been practising and studying yoga. On her travels to India she practised Asthanga Vinyasa and Iyengar yoga. It was in 1997 that she started studying and practising yoga and yoga therapy, with Gert van Leeuwen (author of the books Stop RSI and Yoga in movement) at the Bharata Yoga Institute where in 2003 she completed the teachers training course. In Mexico she has studied with Brigitte Longueville of Solstice - Yoga & Vacations in Zipolite and in Mexico City with Oscar Velazques of Mukta Yoga and Jñanadakini of Yoga Espacio. For more then 10 years Alosja has been teaching and giving workshops in the Netherlands and Mexico, currently she is teaching in Oaxaca, Mexico. Yoga style: Traditional South Indian Hatha yoga with the emphasis on the correct alignment. Correct alignment enables us to move our body freely without tension. Using certain props (like a strip, arch, headstand bench) in passive postures together with conscious breathing you will be able to release deep layers of tension. In the dynamic postures you'll learn to realign the body, thus strengthening the right parts. When relaxation is the beginning of every movement you'll be able to work deeply, building up strength from the inside out, keeping your mind focused and relaxed. As a result your body will feel firm but light, your mind alert but relaxed! Classes are suitable for all levels, especially for people with RSI, or back problems.

Yoga
In Casa del Angel we offer Hatha and Kundalini yoga classes
Our hatha yoga classes may vary depending of the teacher, but during the sessions we give special emphasis on being aware of the breathing and the present moment.
We teach our students to pay attention to the body and to be aware of the subtle energetic changes, emotions and thoughts that take place when we move through different body postures or asanas, when we contract parts of the body and when we relax.
With difficult postures, we always offer alternatives for beginners and anyone with physical challenges. We include pranayama exercises
Kundalini yoga is more energetic with more emphasis in strong breathing exercises. There are also chanting of mantras to activate the subtle energies of the body
We offer Pregnancy Yoga and Yoga for mothers and their babies
Finally there is also Yoga for kids.
"Yoga is not only physical exercises. The goal of Yoga is Yoga itself, union itself, of the little self and the True Self, a process of awakening to your divine nature"
Swami Chidananda

Meditation in Movement
In these classes, we emphasize the free expression of the body through dancing and spontaneous movement.
We also learn to express ourselves by using our voice, sometimes laughing and crying, within a safe group environment.
By practicing the moving meditation proposed by the Hindu master Osho, we learn to leave aside our thinking mind so we can tap more effectively into our creative potential, from which we can live our experiences in a fresher and more vivid way
Sufis Meditation is an ancient meditation technique that originated in Persia and later spread around the world. The aim is to whirl with open arms while staying centered and conscious
Doing this meditation, we can realize inner peace while everything is moving around us, like being in the eye of a storm
danza sufi
We also offer weekly an hour of Laughter meditation

|
Silent Meditation
This is natural meditation, without techniques, traditions, or anything extra
It is simply being here, present. It is sitting in silence, listening, being in touch the 'outer' and the 'inner'. It is allowing everything to be as it is. It is silently, meditatively, asking our deepest questions, asking them into the silence of not-knowing
It is waking up to who we really are. It is the singing of the birds, the pain of illness and dying and loss, the simplicity of breathing in and out, the stars shining in the night sky, the light in the eyes of a friend
Are we truly here for all this?
| |
|
Tai Chi
Also known as meditation in movement, Tai-Chi originated in China and is a martial art that is practiced standing, making very smooth and harmonious movements with attention to body energy.
Regular practice helps to harmonize body, mind and spirit, reducing stress and improving the functioning of joints and internal organs.

Support groups
In Casa del we have organized different support groups with the intention of helping people in the community to improve their life situations and to heal their personal relations.
The purpose of these groups is to share with other persons our life experiences.
This is a place where we can give ourselves the opportunity to express, explore and discover aspects of ourselves that confuse us, that are repressed, that trap us, or anything that we want to share with others.
In an atmosphere of confidentiality and through expressive forms like drawing, painting, writing and speaking, we can learn together to clarify and understand who we are and what we want.
Only as we begin to love and respect ourselves are we able to love and respect others.
